Chamba

Chamba is a charming hill station with panoramic views of the Himalayas. You can explore the local markets and visit the Surkanda Devi Temple for a spiritual experience. It is located 20 kilometres from Tehri Dam.

Barkot

Barkot is a tranquil town that finds acclaim for its beautiful riverside location. Its proximity to nature's bounty and the accessibility of local markets render it an ideal retreat where one can unwind and become immersed in the local culture. It is found at a distance of 78 kilometres from Kempty Falls.

Jankichatti

Jankichatti serves as the inaugural point for embarking on the revered Yamunotri trek, one of the sacred Char Dham shrines. It is positioned at a distance of 45 kilometres from Barkot.

Surya Kund

Pilgrims visit Surya Kund not only for its rejuvenating waters but also for preparing Prasad (temple offerings). With the scalding water at around 88°C, pilgrims prepare Prasad of potato or rice mixed with salt, boil it in the hot spring and then offer it to the temple deity before taking some home. This unique culinary ritual enhances the spiritual experience of visitors and creates a meaningful connection with the divine in this holy place. Named after the river Yamuna, believed to be the daughter of the sun god Surya, this hot spring is set against a backdrop of snow-capped mountain peaks, adding to its sacred aura. It is located near the Yamunotri Temple.

Divya Shila

Divya Shila is a powerful and revered rock pillar that imparts a sense of ethereal reverence to devotees. Before entering the Yamunotri Temple, it is customary for all pilgrims to perform pujas (rituals) at Divya Shila. This rock stands as a symbol of devotion and purity, and the act of worshipping here holds immense spiritual significance, enriching the religious experience of those embarking on the sacred journey to Yamunotri. It is located near the Surya Kund at Yamunotri in Uttarakhand.

Kempty Falls

Is there a trek to reach the Yamunotri temple?

The yatra season usually starts in April/May and continues till October/November as the severe winter makes it unavailable in other months. Also during monsoon, it is dangerous due to landslides and therefore not a preferable time
